The 49th state is often called “The Last Frontier,” and that’s a very fitting moniker. It is home to grand vistas, mostly untouched by human hands, and a great variety of wildlife. It’s also one of the most heavily glaciated areas outside the polar regions, with glaciers covering an area roughly the size of the state of West Virginia. Those wishing to experience true, deep wilderness will find nothing in any of the other 49 US states to compare.
